VAPE ALARMS ≠ BREAST SEARCH
VAPE ALARMS ≠ BREAST SEARCH
As protectors of our children, our responsibility is to ensure their safety, not to inflict harm. When a vape alarm sounds, our duty should be clear—to locate and remove the vape device, not to cross personal boundaries. Yet, by failing to use the provided wand tool and instead physically touching students' breasts during searches, we overstep in a way that is both unnecessary and deeply VIOLATING.
We have fallen so far from our role as guardians when our actions cause trauma instead of protection. For students with a history of abuse, this intrusion is not just uncomfortable—it is RETRAUMATIZING. The impact of these searches extends far beyond the moment; it lingers in fear, distrust, and emotional pain.
We must do better. There is no justification for subjecting children to physical searches that harm their well-being when alternative tools are available. Our role is to protect, not to create new wounds. It is time for immediate change—because no child should have to fear being touched inappropriately under the guise of school safety.
